Eighty-Six 86: Episode 9 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

**FAREWELL-WAVING HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

Well, that was....NOT what I expected at all! For....many reasons!

I can't believe we already have resolution with Rei...we're not dragging that out at all, are we?! And Thank GOODNESS Lena gets her agency back...but just in time for everyone to leave her?! The pacing of this series is messing with my head, that's for sure!

Eighty-Six 86: Episode 9 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Thank you for the kind words and comment! I mean, I GET that she was beat down for the sake of the narrative and to get to where she has this big "rising up" moment to help Shin and get the mortars and all that -- I get it...I guess, based on other shows I've been watching and am watching, the character beats have been hit...more naturally? Smoother? Better? In those series? I'm going to talk about it with Episode 10, which I'm hoping to watch soon...I keep putting it off, but I think since people have hyped up this series SO much, I'm expecting all of this revolutionary stuff to happen that I haven't seen in other series. So when I see some similar narrative beats, I understand the symbolism, I get the author's decision on why this is happening...it just doesn't strike me as reinventing the wheel. The curse of me being a literature teacher, I guess, hahaha!! Hopefully, I will try to temper my expectations and just sit back and see what happens in the story and let it come naturally and enjoy it. :) Thanks again!

This episode is such a rollercoaster. I really enjoyed listening to your thoughts and insights again. With regards to Lena's lack of Agency previously, She was being "beat down" for wanting to help, to be better then those who just accepting the status quo episode 8. If her uncle and Annette had not done that to her in episode 8, maybe she would not have gotten the strength of will to break the rules and use everything she could to help Shin and the others here in episode ? Like tempering a piece of steel, those events hardened her to be able to do what she did in this episode. Just some thoughts of mine about this and last episode. Anyways, I will be back to see your thoughts on episode 10 next Sunday, have a great holiday!
