OH FRIENDS -- this may be my favorite episode of the series so far! The donghua spared no expense to make Hua Cheng and Qi Rong look AMAZING and the animation, emotion, and tension between everyone in the green ghost's lair is exactly what I was hoping for from the novel!
All the easter eggs, all the foreshadowing, all the fun -- yes, our Green Ghost and Crimson Rain Sought Flower help bring in the new year right!

I have kind of overlooked the CGI-ness of the season, but the bobbling of the dolls has been pretty fun this season! And the MASKS! I MISS CORNETTO ADS FROM MDZS -- I need them in this series!! The ads constantly made me want a Cornetto watching MDZS so badly!! JEALOUS! :D Thank you for the comment!

The donghua just had to go and make him this character with so much personality and sweetness, right?! But yeah, Xie Lian -- MY HEART! "Belongs in a Hot Topic store," *dies laughing* You know Hua Cheng would OWN that Hot Topic store, RIGHT?! And literally, QR is perfect and everything in this season! I know that it's common for production teams to use 3D models to cut budget or animate things that can be hard to do in 2D, but when the 3D doll LQQ fall from XL and just bouncing around like that, I was like 'that's some really weird CGI' It's such cute easter egg to see the masks! And since we now have a cornetto colab, I'm crossing my fingers to see a icecream stand somewhere next season.

2024-01-03 03:20:24 +0000 UTCI never really got attached to LQQ in the books, but watching him animated, smile and jump around energetically, I actually like his character more now; AND HIS LITTLE GUY THAT FOLLOWS HIM AROUND. Xie Lian in the flashbacks is so emo LMAO, poor traumatised boy would def belong in a hot topic store. QI RONG IS PERFECT, HE IS EVERYTHING!! The design, the voice acting, the expressions, HE IS BREATHTAKING EVERYTIME HES ON SCREEN. Please donghua team i need some qi rong merch RIGHT NOW
