Frieren: Beyond Journey's End! Episode 3 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

 **ZOLTRAAK'D HEADPHONE WARNINGS**

This series can be funny, tranquil, lovely, but also have that little "bite" to it! And this episode proves it! Frieren on her path to retrace the steps with her former party and understand humanity more, takes Fern to deal with an old nemesis from long ago...and it doesn't quite go as would be expected!

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End! Episode 3 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

I do really love that unlike...other...shows, this one does show the beauty of humanity more on display, despite the situation they're in showing that the ugly side does exist. And yes, that's a really good point about the south/north situation! And yes, despite not being a "tense" match up, the one with Qual and Frieren was still so good! Thank you for the comment!

When we see those ruffians being dessert experts, just being nice and helpful it seems that this show wants to portray humans a bit different then some other shows we could mention. We really don't see anyone being awful or doing bad things, but we know Fern is a war orphan so people are definitely capable of heinous things it's just not something this show seems interested in portraying (this far atleast). And i guess the war could have been with demons but i didn't get that impression with Ferns/Heiters flashback. Also it seemed to be a more southern area, as we see in later episodes, demons seem more of a northern problem. Yeah the fight with Qual is great, for me there was no tension at all and it still was awesome. You don't want to be out of the mage game for 80 years, it's gonna put you somewhat on the back foot, especially if you are going up against Frieren.

Ahhh, I did NOT notice that, but I love you all are pointing it out! That's really sweet that she's gathering spells about little things concerning those close to her! :3 Thank you for pointing that out and for the kind words and comment!

I am living for the idea that Himmel is Jesus to Frieren and she measures time before and after his death, though it makes a LOT of sense! 🙂 It’s still funny that she remembered the straw hat over his favorite dish, especially if you supposedly have a crush on him…Frieren’s memory is an enigma. I’m not sure that Mikasa and Rose are good comparisons for Frieren, though, to be honest. At least Mikasa expressed her feelings constantly to Eren….he was just an idiot, haha! And Rose and Leo literally had sex before the Titanic sank, so…I’m not sure we can call them equal, but I appreciate you trying to salvage the ship! ;) Thanks for the comment and kind words!

It’s so cute! I would have accepted that gift IMMEDIATELY! 🙂 Thank you for the age info on Fern and translations; everyone’s commented about the sour grapes, haha, so I’ll have to make note of that! And yes, if it wasn’t clear to us with the time passing dates on the screen, it’s very clear that his death was impactful – episode 1 emphasized that so well! Definitely a really nice episode!! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Great reaction as always. I’m not sure if you noticed this but during that flashback of the party eating together, Eisen said his favorite food is sour grapes and last episode Frieren acquired a spell to make grapes, sour. Cute little detail I missed on my first watch through. For all her talk of not understanding people, she still manages to remember the smallest minute things about those closest to her.

"Himmel's death was so important to Frieren that she (and we) gauge how much time is passing with Himmel's death (almost in the same sense of B.C and A.C)" If Himmel is the Jesus equivalent for the people of that world, Frieren walking into town has the same mildly amusing feel of St. Peter casually strolling into a gas station. On a bit more serious note, To me it makes sense she'd remember the straw hat kid but not Himmel's favorite dish, she didn't even realize Himmel was that important to her until he passed away so, why bother learning the favorite dish of some random guy you're spending a mere decade with? But remembering the little kid who got a rise out of the guy you got a crush on even if you don't know it? Her subconscious took care of remembering that. P.S. Who cares if the ship is sunk, submarines are a type of ship. Did death stop Mikasa or Rose from Titanic? I don't think so.

This anime is soothing I LOVE it.

She got her a birthday gift! Frieren is trying TwT Eisen likes Sour Grapes and in the last episode they learned a spell for making grapes sour, which already gives more meaning of Frieren wanting these seemingly "useless" spells. Fern is 16, that means she was 9 when her and Frieren first met. Himmel's death was so important to Frieren that she (and we) gauge how much time is passing with Himmel's death (almost in the same sense of B.C and A.C), I find that detail nice, since we get these "time passed since Himmel's death, in the region/city", it gives us a timeline but it's probably also how Frieren views time passing now. City of Warm has the same meaning, Warm means Warm xD The Elder Sage of Corruption "Qual" - torment/agony/anguish (some examples how it could be translated) It's interesting to see how much humans evolve in a relative short time (for long-lived species at least) but maybe it's because they have so little time that they accomplish so much. I like how they show how smart Qual is to manage to analyze so quickly how humans adapted to his spell, even if he was defeated in the end, it still shows his intelligence. Frieren being a good teacher by letting her figure out some things on her own, like how to use defense spells, she let her figure out when to use it on her own (that she needed to only use it on small spaces where the attack would hit) and telling Fern to read the magical history, because it is important to know theory and history as much as learning to practice it on field. Loved the discussion, looking forward to next episode ^^
