Hahaha -- I love how Fern and Frieren are legit so low energy at times, but then become badass in a fight without over-exerting -- it's the opposite of Akira Toriyama with DBZ! The son makes so much sense! I just thought it was grandfather for the legacy with the lord, but the son makes a lot of sense as well. And YES, I feel so much for Stark, who gets so much of the brunt of the pain in the show -- but yeah, him being a tank as a warrior compared to a glass canon with Frieren makes so much sense! 2024-04-13 18:25:52 +0000 UTCFern has learnt a lot from Frieren, if you want to look badass in i fight, just look as bored as humanly possible. I always thought that was his son going up against Aura, and after he briefly resisted she had everyone she controlled beheaded. But on the other hand she must have had the name "The Guillotine" for longer than 10 years, and probably both the grandfather and the son would have had the family crest. Do we see her army being headless back 80 years ago? I also had the thought that it could be now empty suits of armors were the bodies had already withered away, but with episode 11 in mind i don't think that is the case. Yeah in our main trio Stark certainly gets the worst of it, but hey, he is the warrior and should be the tank, it's the mages that are gonna be the glas cannons.

And yes, that parallel to a musician and their craft is spot on – everything here feels so natural and that’s part of the overall appeal for sure! I love the themes and how they’re subverting and complicating what we think we’ve seen in other stories. Thank you for the kind words, too! The villains are really engaging and I’m excited to eventually re-watch the series to see little bits and pieces a second time. I definitely can see why it charted! It’s one of those series with a banging straight-out-of-the-gate pilot, then lets you soak in the ambiance, and then cranks up the heat – and I’m living for it! Thank you for the comment!! 2024-03-04 01:09:10 +0000 UTCBefore this episode, I wondered how they would handle a long fight sequence. After this episode, I thought "Why did I even question it? It was handled the same way as everything else." That is to say, about as well as or better than any anime that I have ever watched. I agree with you 100% that it just seems so effortless. To use a music parallel, the mark of a great musician is the make something insanely difficult look effortless. Frieren makes creating a wonderfully engaging anime with great story, character development, animation and OST look effortless. I am so enjoying watching the series a second time through you and hearing your thoughts. It makes me think about somethings that I miss at times. I agree with how you talked about its not always pure strength that wins. Despite being a fantasy setting, that adds another layer of realism that draws you into the world setting. The Villains are so well done in the series too. They are as well crafted and created as the protagonists. Again, I feel like I just keep saying this in every comment, the attention to detail in everything is just mind blowing. Re-watching it makes me appreciate it all even more. I have to say that this anime has charted #1 on MAL since it started. I wondered if I would agree with that when I started the anime but by this point in this series, I was finding myself wanting to agree with it lol. I will be here for episode 10 next week.
