Frieren: Beyond Journey's End! Episode 11 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

Hahaha, I definitely love a surprise, as you all know – and I don’t know if Kraft will come back, so maybe after this season I’ll research what monks are in D&D afterwards! 😛 Yes, it was from episode 1! That’s what I meant in the discussion – I had been trying to place when they all met and back in episode 1 I thought they’d met when Himmel and Eisen was taken before the King, but that was clearly not the case. Sorry if it didn’t come off that way when I was talking about it, but I know what you mean! Fern is so secretly into Stark but doesn’t want to show it, haha! All I can say about Kraft is (based on a recent episode I watched) is I don’t think Kraft is into Frieren now, either, but….who knows what else we’ll get with him, so we’ll see. And that’s a really interesting part about Frieren staying agnostic – with them going to a literal land of spirits, I am REALLY curious how they will handle that plot line, so I’m excited to see how it is developed, if it is with her! Thank you for the comment!

Knowing genre conventions can be a double edged sword, it can make the worldbuilding somewhat predone or easier, but it can also lead people wrong (wich in and of itself can be a good or bad thing) if you tweak those conventions, or be like spoilers if you don't. So i thought about bringing up what monks usually are in DnD and similar settings but if Kraft comes back i better not. I don't want you to yell at me. 😉 Not that it matters much but i'm pretty sure the thing with Himmel and Eisen getting executed was back in the capital they returned to in episode one. From next episode we know the whole party were present when they set out and got stiffed by the king (10 coppers, pfft), but we also saw Himmel and the others seek out Frieren before that. So my conclusion is that Himmel, as the "Hero", went around gathering the very best party he could, went to the king for sponsorship, nearly lost his head and then they all started out on that 10 year quest to kill the Demon King. Yeah i also got sense Fern got a bit worried she had some competition now. 😂 I don't think Kraft is Frieren's type (if Elves even have types, hence going extinct), she likes em young, like a 1000 years younger 😉, not... what? 1000 years? 2000 years older? My guess is that kraft is somewhere between 2000 and 3000 years old, but who knows how elves work. As someone without a spiritual bone in my body i hope they keep Frieren agnostic, doesn't mean she can't pray for and cherish the beliefs of others. Unless they come to Ende and the Godess herself appears before them, being agnostic then would be stupid.

Ahhhh, that makes sense with the demons not "getting" what she meant -- good call, there! And oooh, YES, that little line explaining that Heiter was likely involved in her suppressing her mana -- nice! :D That's awesome; and I agree, the Stark and Fern moments are perfect! Thank you for the comment and kind words -- and the translation help! That's appreciated! :D

Thank you so much for the kind words and comment! I really appreciate that! I love being able to go back through the episode, so I'm glad that format works for you all! :) Ooohhh, I don't think he told us his age, so please no spoilers with that! But thank you for the comment and kind words!

This episode and Kraft are soooooo fantastic! I love him! Thank you for the comment!

Yesssss, I immediately went to his roles in JJK, Jojo’s, and NGE, but I’m glad you reminded me he was also Claudia! 🙂 And yes, someone else on patreon said like you did about the son being the one in the armor! I’ll comment on that for Episode 12, but you are right! Thanks for that! I LOVE Kraft – he’s my favorite side character so far – I hope one day we can see more of him! And yes, the humor and wit are just so fun in this series; I love it! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

I'm so used to MLA I know it like the back of my hand and that point! I used APA for one grad program and it was okay but I never fully got the hang of it! That's good to know about Chicago Manual Style! Thanks for that info and the comment!!

I really enjoy your format of reaction video! I've only gone through your Frieren, but I just want to mention hearing "Oh, we're going to talk about that later" is so exciting like foreshadowing future discussion, I love the post-episode analysis you do, and how you skim the episode a second time, which I don't think is totally uncommon, but you do it so much better because you go through it sequentially skipping very little, reading key lines, summarizing it in your own words, like an essay almost! So thanks for having such great reactions! As for Kraft and traveling alone, I think it's worth considering even as strong as he is - and he's what a 5,000 year old Elf who has seen it all - he mentions he was going to die from being trapped in that winter storm, all his food was buried and he can't create fire like a mage can - so stumbling into Frieren and Fern saved his life - hence one of the reasons why you need a mage I think to travel north through the dangers of the winter. Also it kills me to hear you calling Frieren "Granny" and her hunt for seven smutty grimoires, haha. So true! Poor Frieren, but it fits her so well!

I think when Frieren says 'those reactions are normal, she means when she told Aura the same thing, about Himmel scolding her, Fern and Stark's reaction are normal while Aura just said 'but isn't he dead?' showing more how fundamentally different demons are to humans. Heiter saying supressing your mana might me useful if he has a mage as a child, love this detail which explains how Fern was so undetectable, even when Frieren first met her. I love the little Stark and Fern moments xD Kraft - Strength Äußerst - extremely/most/exceedingly ('ß' is a sharp 's', not a 'b'. 'Äu' sounds like 'Oi' for this word, so the word would be pronounced like 'Oiserst') 'Schwer' Mountains - 'Hard/Heavy/Difficult' Mountains 'Decke' Region - 'Ceiling/Blanket/Cover' Region Really nice and chill episode, enjoyed the reaction and discussions, looking forward to next week ^^

I’ve honestly been waiting for this ep ahaha. Smirking for sure hehe. Those moments aside I do enjoy how this anime humor kinda “sneaks” up on us and the pace so far. Oh and ofc we gotta talk about future suitors!! 💖 👀

We're using the Chicago style, it's better than the rest. Well, it's better than MLA, that's garbage. I can't really speak to APA. I only used it in one class, so it didn't leave much of an impression.

Hey Romania! I wanted to point out a couple things. Kraft's voice acto, Takehito, is also the voice actor for Claudia Hodgens in Violet Evergarden. That is where I know him best from and loved his work there. Speaking of Violet Evergarden, a little praise for Evan Call for the sound design in Frieren that is as good as his work with Violet Evergarden. Grant Granaf, when talking to Lughner itowards the end of epsiode 7, mentioned his son was killed by Aura 10 years ago. It may be his son's armor there in this epsiode thought I am not 100% sure. I do like Frieren praying over the dead in this epsiode. For me, it harkened back to Eisen saying "But those ten years changed you, Frieren" in referring to their ten year adventure. The Frieren before joining Himmel, Eisen and Hieter would never have prayed. Like you, I loved Kraft. He comes off as both wise and kind from the moment you meet him. I would point out how this show so tastefully handles the passage of time. Although six months pass with Kraft, you feel you get to know the characters a little better despite there is no dialogue when they advance time. The humor sneaks up on you in this anime. The slip it in and surprises you liek so much good humor happens in our daily lives. Whenever I watch an epsiode and it ends, I always think "It's over already?" I think that is a mark of good story telling when the epsiode passes so fast you can't believe its over. Oh well, you can tell how much I love this anime. Talk to you laters!
