Frieren: Beyond Journey's End! Episode 17 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*HANDSY HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

This episode was all about hands -- it was so hard to pick a thumbnail! But the connection of how we want to support others, help them be the best versions of themselves, and what we do to connect that support from one generation to the next? It's beautiful and why I love this show!

But there's so many questions of where we go from here? All I know is I cannot WAIT!

Thank you for watching with me and for all the support!

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End! Episode 17 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Fark definitely makes me think of middle schoolers trying to say F&#$ and get away with it! 😛 But Frell or Frak works too! I do like Stern, still! And YES, Sein realizing that for their talk about separating, they didn’t realize what they were about to lose until it was nearly too late again. And yes, humans being a creature of habit tying into that – absolutely a good point, there! I agree – where’s Frieren’s “life straw” to filter the water and all their canteens?! 😛They’d probably have Stark carry everything. Thank you for the comment!

Exactly! It definitely doesn't feel like a cheat with Frieren! :D And yes, the blips and montage format are handled with care and don't feel forced or drug out. It's weirdly teasing and satisfying at the same time -- I guess the "no second is wasted" feeling is what hits me the most. Time passes and we see everything, but we don't spend too long with it. And yessss, Frieren and Stark bonding is some of my favorite moments in this episode! That and Frieren continuing her "goblin" era as a Macbeth witch! ;) Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Thanks for the comment! I will check out the ED in comparison to the ED from the first cour when it gets closer to the end of the season! Thanks!

I don't know what's going on but let's just say that this is Homelanders favourite episode of Frieren. To me Fark sounds more like those made up swear words we get in science fiction, like "frell" from Farscape or "frak" from Battlestar Galactica which of course is very close. And i guess "Stern" fits their dynamic better anyways. They maybe did it more of a joke but with how this series is so much about regrets and making the most of the time you have with people, Sein realizing they didn't actually spend that much time together is kind of poignant. If we actually did get more time maybe we would just do more of the same things (and mistakes) as we did originally, humans being creatures of habit and all that. Yeah, no fiction ever portrays the reality of provisions/supplies accurately, probably because if they did any story with any kind of travel would mostly be about securing food/water and ways to transport it.

I don't know, my take on that is she is laying down on Himmel's grave signifying that party is now gone and then shows her laying on fern's lap because that is who she is with now. but that is just my take though.

This is just my opinion since I don't read the manga, I enjoyed the anime way too much that I refuse to read the manga no matter how much I want to read it, but Fern is gonna die at some point in time and Frieren keeps on living for who knows how many thousands of years more, so its pretty safe to assume that it is Ferns grave. We see how Frieren lays down in front of it the same way she lays down on Ferns lap and at the end we see Frieren laying down on Ferns lap.

OKA

I'd agree, the second intro is mostly just a fun tease of random scenes, low-spoiler risk especially after a few more episodes when the next arc has started and many of the characters are introduced. However, there's one scene which in hindsight is a semi-spoiler if you analyze it closely: **Spoilers below*** **Spoilers below*** **Spoilers below*** The intro does show off the Frieren + Fern vs Frieren mimic fight in the dungeon. I don't think it's that big a surprise once you realize everyone does have mimics in the test, but you if look close IMO that silhouette of the boots/dress in the foreground is 100% Frieren, and someone might catch on to that before the 2nd test gets going.

The ending is the same song but not the same part of the song, ending 1 was mainly the first part of the song and ending 2 is mainly the second part of the song, so the lyrics are different you should read they are beautiful, like the start of ending 1 was "And you alright ? Can you hear me ?" and the start of this ending is "And Im alright ( i'll be alright ) Yeah, i hear you ( I care about you )" and then the rest of the lyrics too are so pretty, the second part of the song is like a reply at the first part, i love it.

I get what you are saying about splitting the episode. I have seen it done a number of times, but never well. Usually, when a show does that, you feel cheated someway. Frieren does it so well and does not feel like you have been cheated in any way. I think part of the reason it does it so well is the attention to detail including the handing of the time skips. The show very short blips of what is going on during the montage. You see just enough to see what happens during the time, but not enough to make it drag out. Like in this episode, them eating together, shopping together, eating together. It makes you feel like the time has passed and you know what they did and got to know the characters a little better without any dialogue. I really enjoyed the Frieren and Stark bonding in the second half the show. And the animation on the icicle cherry blossom tree is just amazing. Also, when Frieren is mixing the herbs in the pot, I whisper "Double, Double, Toil and Trouble". (lol) She looks so happy while doing it too. As you like to say, Frieren just doesn't miss. I will see you next week.

Medieval fantasy Jesus... thanks I will never see Himmel any other way now lmao

The OP isn't spoilery imo. It doesn't really reveal any plot points and is mainly just a showcase of all the new characters you'll meet, in the same way the first OP showed all the characters you meet in the first 16 episodes, except for that 1 grinning elf. But of course it's up to you whether you want to watch it.
