Frieren: Beyond Journey's End! Episode 22 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

*PACIFISTIC HEADPHONE WARNINGS*

After passing the first "leg" of their exam, our crew is given a few days to rest and we get some much-needed bonding time as Stark is once again reminded he's BASICALLY married at this point.

But Sense the "Pacifist" seems to have some dark things lying in store for our crew in the second portion of the exam; maybe now's the time to savor these peaceful moments, eh?

Frieren: Beyond Journey's End! Episode 22 FULL LENGTH Reaction!

Comments

The ships were leaving the harbor in FULL FORCE! Stark being so oblivious to being married to Fern and Fern not realizing she has a husband, haha! I REALLY love Ubel and Land for the shenanigans they are going to get into, because Ubel is going to make sure he stays alive…at least long enough for her to empathize with him! I commented on Alex Kornejo’s comment, but maybe it’s the mana suppression or elf appetites that give her a reason to eat so much! That is a good question about classifying Himmel. The show seems to call him a “warrior,” so I feel we just have two warriors like we have two mages now. Or, if Hero is a “type,” I’d definitely say he’s the “hero” type. Or….he’s medieval fantasy Jesus and there is no other type quite like HIM. ;) The random old man is THE MOST STRANGE thing to happen in this series so far! I’m fully expecting it to “pay off” – but if it doesn’t? It will definitely be the most “random” moment in the series for sure! Thank you for the comment!

I think it's just meant for comedy that Frieren of all people is eating all the steaks, but maybe she's replenishing that endless well of mana? :P And yes, it could be a power play, hahaha!! There was SUCH a launch of ships! Helen of Troy be damned! And ooohhh, I had NOT thought about that OP-ness with her learning Land's technique; I'm going to have to talk about that in a future reaction. But yes, Fern is me playing ANY video game. Just spamming that attack button! Thank you for the comment!

No problem at all! I really enjoyed it! And yesss, I love learning some German in this story, haha! Oooohhh, that is REALLY interesting to note that about his name! Thank you for pointing that out! I'll have to mention that in an upcoming intro!

YES! I read somewhere that whenever Kubo had writer's block, he just created another character, hahaha!! Which...is a MOOD. But I honestly loved it.

Now this was a episode for the shippers wasn't it? Poor Stark, him and Fern just skipped ahead and went straight for the "been married for years" phase. If there was any doubt about Kanne and Lawine before, this episode showed us the series is shipping them too. Them being the third pair to have a "get down on one knee" scene after Himmel/Frieren and Stark/Fern... not bad company. And of course we have Übel and Land, i too am looking forward for what the future holds for these two, hopefully some shenanigans... that Land survives. So being a mage apparently burns a lot calories, as seemingly both Fern and Frieren eats more than Stark, a warior one suspects would need to eat a lot. Maybe it's all that mana suppression, could need a fair amount of energy to maintain. Speaking of warriors, is that what Himmel is? He has a sword and we have seen him use it so that checks out. But the party did have "Eisen" explicitly "the warrior" so that might be a point against. Sure the current party has two mages so doubling up of classes isn't a problem. We have had priests, thiefs and monks shown/mentioned, all standard rpg classes, so how should we classify Himmel? There are more "virtuous" classes such as paladins and the like and there are rpgs that infact straight up have the class "hero". Perhaps he is more of a leader type, increasing morale and buffing the party with good vibes, giving them bonus rolls on all their skill checks. Or maybe because Sousou no Frieren (SnF? or F:BJE?) isn't an rpg and sweet Himmel is to special to be neatly be categorized into specific class, he just has to be his own thing. Yeah, werid old martial arts man, one time joke or something more? Atleast he seems to think highly of Stark... but he might also just be the local crank, not knowing a damn thing about fighting and/or martial arts.

I love that Stark is finally able to hang out with some dudes! Good for him! :D Thank you so much for the comment!

Honestly I'm surprised it's Frieren and not Stark who's doing the shounen diet, I guess it's her way of establishing dominance: "don't get it wrong battle boy, I'M the protagonist". So many ships being launched this episode, Helen of Troy must have been in town or something. Considering the weak point of her own special technique, Ubel learning Land's hability would make her so OP. No wonder she sought out Land rather than Fern, Ubel likes learning special moves while fern just spams the attack button.

Alex Kornejo

First Thing: Thank you for the mention of my comment. Second Thing: This episode shows how deep the naming in Frieren can go and that the author has a deeper than surface grasp of German. Because Yes Richter CAN mean Judge but this episodes shows he probably wasn't named for that. In German "Er richtet es wieder" could translate to: He fixes something/He is tinkering with it. So Richter probably was named because he is a magic item shop keeper that fixes things for his customers.
