I do like to think that in between the hangovers he did some substantial healing -- at least enough for them to warrant the "wistful sighs" at him not partaking in the battles. Plus, maybe keeping him out of the battles keeps him out of harms' way in that instance. I LOVE a good flashback and this one was no exception! And yes, showing how Serie is not entirely truthful to others or herself on how she feels about Flamme was very very good indeed! I can see that argument that she's afraid of not being "unique" as a magic user anymore -- I'm not sure how it factors into the "elves being obsolete" -- that part of the storytelling is problematic to me in the timeline - were the elves ever afraid of this or is it just Serie? You'd think if the Elves were fearful of humanity learning the magic they'd coveted for themselves, they'd have done like a Council of Elves in LOTR and organized a little more. Instead, from what we've seen, they all seemed like unsuspecting forest hippies that just happened to know some magic. So, I do feel there's some disconnect in the storytelling and a lot of it is just us piecing together our own headcanons. I hope that the manga gives us more with the elves and their history in the future. Thanks for the comment!

2024-07-13 18:57:15 +0000 UTCSo... have we ever seen Heiter being useful to the Hero's Party? I sure hope he got a lot of healing and mending injuries in inbetween his hangovers. I really loved the flashbacks in this episode. Serie trying to minimize her connection to Flamme and the way they showed how that really isn't how she feels, it just gives me enough of that sweet, sweet melancholy i crave from this show. 😉 I didn't take what Serie said as her fearing future humans attacking and more that her being "special" would go away. As the example with Fern intuitively knowing Zoltraak, the humans with their short lifespans would quickly (say a few thousand years only 😜) make elves obselete and not able to keep up.

And yes, the animation is so beautiful - I wouldn’t say “no” to more of it for sure – but YES, it does make it special when you get it in little “bursts!” And ahahaha, oh, I had my SHIPPING goggles on for sure! And oh yeah, I for sure feel it’s their “kink” and “flirting language” at this point. Ahh, that’s okay! I look forward to hearing what you were going to say when we’re on the last episode! 2024-06-26 21:52:11 +0000 UTCReally fun episode, enjoyed seeing the fights play out in this one as well as the Serie/Flamme/Frieren backstory. I agree way the show gives you what you need to know in the fights and skips what can be skipped is nice. The animation is so great sometimes I do wish they'd last longer because of that, but it does make them more special that they are not the norm in the series by any means, many episodes have had no physical conflicts at all. It was fun to hear the bickering between Lawine and Kanne put in your perspective - that of get a room we're trying to strategize - haha, I'm used to people just describing it as sibling rivarly etc. You're my definitive source on what is shippable and I think maybe you're on to something here. The last thing I wrote I have no way of commenting on until the series is over without you inferring spoilers (I tried but it just doesn't work), so I will wait until then haha! What a fun series it has been, can't wait for next week's reaction, like always!
