Thank you so much for the comment and kind words! I really think this episode did the Rule of 8 proud! 😀But yes, feeding off of our tears, indeed! Touko is such a MOM and I love her for it! And I love how Madara and Natsume are working more and more cohesively! I love how Natsume gets his expectation vs. reality moment in this and how he’s a mediator – maybe that’s why I love him so much as a protagonist? That’s such a great thing to point out! Of course, I’m a bit ahead in watching (bwahaha) but I’ll definitely make note of that! Thank you for the comment and kind words!

Another Rule of Eight episode success and yes, this show really does feed off of our tears! 🥰 Love the small moments in this one: like Toko making Natsume pack ALL the snacks – all of them 😂, Madara and Natsume working so well together now, Natsume’s moment of fear and worry ‘cause he was ‘just trying to help’ and it didn’t immediately work the way he’d wanted. I also like this ep being another clearer example of a time Natsume’s mediation - in addition to regaining the name - is what provides a moment of clarity for the yokai, not just the name getting released and Natsume being a kind of ‘observer’ for the audience. Looking forward to next week! 💙

2024-08-29 12:48:59 +0000 UTCTo me, it felt like Madara was subtly hinting (to himself and/or Natsume) that he wants to stay with Natsume for at least longer than a human's natural lifespan; he's already lost Reiko, and now he's attached to another mortal who'll be gone before he knows it. It kinda felt like that type of joke where the joke-teller acts uncomfortable afterwards because there was more truth in said joke than they wanted to admit. The shot of his eye after "Then you'll never get the Book of Friends" really struck me as a non-verbalized "The Book of Friends isn't really my priority anymore."
